Chalet Chardons

Chardons is not a traditional chalet but is actually a large comfortable apartment with 8 guest bedrooms and 1 staff bedroom. This is a unique apartment which was once a private residence (of Robert Maxwell!) and the bedrooms and living space reflect this. The furnishings and decoration give it a feeling of warmth and luxury.

The spacious and comfortable lounge and the adjoining terrace face south and have spectacular picture postcard views of the lake with the mountains beyond (the panorama above is taken from the terrace).

As you might expect from such a residence, the bedrooms are a range of sizes, styles and facilities.

Some of the bedrooms are large enough to accommodate an extra bed and we can use bunk beds in some rooms. Using the extra beds and depending on the make up of the group we can fit up to 21 in the chalet. However we will only do this if either one party books the whole chalet or it will not inconvenience the other parties staying in the chalet.

Bedroom 1 - The master bedroom has floor to ceiling windows facing South and West with views that surpass those of the lounge. It also has a king sized bed, and an equally magnificent en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath and separate shower. For families this room has enough space to fit an additional 2 single beds if required. We charge a small premium for this room because it enjoys such facilities.

Bedrooms 2 & 3 - Are a twin and a double respectively with west facing windows. These are not en-suite and share a bathroom that has separate bath and shower.

With the agreement of the guests in room 1, room 2 can use room 1's bathroom as an ensuite. This makes rooms 1 and 2 an ideal combination for families or friends.

Bedroom 4 - Is an internal twin room with no windows to the outside. However it does have high level windows which allow some natural light into the room, is mechanically ventilated and has a portable air conditioning unit. This room has an ensuite bathroom and seperate toilet.

Bedroom 5 - is a triple room which we offer as a twin or triple.

Bedroom 6 can be a double or a twin.
Bedrooms 5 & 6 share a bathroom in what is essentially a separate area within the chalet. This can be treated as a family apartment and is ideal for a family or group of friends.

Bedroom 7 - This is a double room with en-suite bathroom. It has large south facing windows opening on to the terrace. We charge a small premium for this room because it is en-suite.

Bedroom 8 - This is an internal twin room with no windows to the outside. However it does have high level windows that allow natural light in from the outside and it is mechanically ventilated. This room shares the shower room and WC across the hall with the 2 staff members that live in.

We have some flexibility to vary the room layouts by adding a single bed or bunk beds so please ask if our current room arrangements don't meet your needs.

Chalet Service
The price of the holiday includes;

Breakfast: A selection of cereals, bread, yoghurt, orange juice, tea and coffee will be served every morning. In addition we serve a cooked option (e.g. french toast, scrambled eggs, omelettes, bacon & egg) and porridge every day except the staff day off and changeover day.

Afternoon tea: Fresh cakes, bread, jam, tea and coffee will be set out for your return from skiing.

Dinner: A 3 course dinner is served every evening except Thursday (staff day off). This will be a delicious meal accompanied by a local table wine. Tea and coffee will be served in the lounge after dinner.

Other Information
Upon arrival we will escort you to our recommended ski shop and ensure you are looked after by the staff there. We will also obtain lift passes for you to save you the bother of queueing and to minimise any delays in getting on the slopes. We also work closely with the ski school and will happily assist in any bookings of lessons or adventure activities.

There is a ski and boot room within the chalet and there is parking for 3 cars on a private driveway.

We ask guests not to wear outdoor shoes inside the chalet so please bring slippers or something similar.

The chalets are strictly No Smoking, we ask guests that smoke to use the balcony or the drive.

Because our holidays involve independent travel we do not have fixed times for arrival and departure. In fact, so that guests can get the most out of their holidays we are happy to try to accommodate early arrivals and late departures. We hope all guests will accept that there may be an overlap of incoming and outgoing guests on changeover day.
