Living in Tignes for the season...

Essential info for anyone looking to spend the season in Tignes!

Working a ski season has always been something that people look to do in there Gap Year or while taking a bit of time out to enjoy a bit of travel. Most people think that the job entails a lot of parties and skiing or snowboarding which when you have time off it does, but the hours can be long and there can be a demanding roles to work in.

Most of the time though you will be working in some form of hospitality role where you will be serving guests in some capacity whether it be ski rental hire or working in a bar or within a chalet or hotel. Making sure guests have an amazing time, and ensuring you have plenty of time on the hill, will be at the forefront of your agenda.

Jobs

Spending the entire season in snow-sure Tignes is a very good move! Great snow, sunshine, awesome crew, not to mention some of the best après ski in Europe! Although it can be hard work, your free time will be spent skiing, snowboarding, socialising and taking in all of the amazing scenery you have around you.

If you fancy a season working in Tignes, there are several job categories on offer. Best Ski Jobs is a great site dedicated to finding the right employees for a specific line of work.

Local magazine Edge advertises all kinds of roles within the Espace Killy area and beyond, whilst Tignes.co.uk lists local available positions.

Accommodation

Tignes.co.uk also provide accommodation for the full winter season, as well as year-round rentals.

The local Tignes facebook seasonnaire page is also a good place to chat with other seasonnaires to find out if any jobs have become available or there is someone looking to share accommodation.

Lift Passes

There are great reductions on season passes if you have a job. Tignes only passes cost a great deal less than the full Espace Killy pass. Further info on this can be found through your employer or online here.

The same reduction applies to apartment owners in Tignes, and ski instructors can also benefit from great discounts. 

The winter season ski pass starts from the beginning of December and lasts until the lifts close in mid May. To use a season pass when the glacier opens at the beginning of October, you can either buy an autumn pass or extend your summer pass. Click here for further info.

Ski/Snowboard INstructor Gap Courses

There are several 'Gap Course' providers in Tignes and Val d'Isere. In conjunction with BASI (British Association of Snowsport Instructors), you can pay for the full package and become a BASI Level 2 ski or snowboard instructor in three months. On and off-snow training, examinations, accommodation, lift passes are all organised for you.

Gapski and Snoworks are based in Tignes.

Ice and Base Camp are based in Val d'Isere.
