''It's hard to describe my own painting, because it doesn't have the sharp focus as a graphic and it comes out of unconsciousness. I would say it is a reminiscence to pop-art influenced cartoon culture. When I grew up, comics were there to cheer me up. I loved the old Pink Panther comic strips - there was a character who always had the hardest time and was bugged by the Pink Panther. He looked like the figure on the picture and was driven by the grief over others. It ended up negatively funny, so he was sadly the 'King of Pain'.
Now we are living in times of a total reproduction culture and first-world predominance. It is a time where we have to face the fact that resources and are not endless and economic growth is not a key to survival. As I sample this character and combine him with illustrative grafitti-pop, I approach my look on culture. Whether it is snowboarding, art, or universal culture, if we still go on with a negative and exploitative attitude, it will be the 'End of Pop'.
