Catch up with jenny Jones at Winter X Games Tignes

BIG AIR AND HIGH ALTITUDE LAUGHS in tignes...

Words: Jenny Jones (Metrosnow.co.uk)

In the beginning of March I headed back from Colorado and made my way to Tignes for the annual Euro X Games week.

The weather forecast was sun, sun and more sun for the whole week so I was a very happy lady. Of course I love the powder but when a contest is on the last thing you want to be doing is hitting flat light park kickers for a comp. Oakley hooked me up again this year and treated all the athletes to a fully catered chalet in Tignes Le Lac, we had a lovely bunch of staff cooking tasty meals for us all week leaving us with a taste of how it felt to be a spoilt holiday maker.

The entire place was buzzing, with attendance up from 15,000 last year to a whopping 40,000 this year, which might have something to do with a certain red headed snowboarder. I usually watch Shaun White from afar when he is shredding the pipe but I was a little shocked to find him riding the slope practice in his tight little black trousers and leather jacket, the ginger mane flowing. The course set up this year was ace fun but it took me awhile to get into it as this was my first comp all season.

I was a little rusty but soon blew away the cobwebs and was super pleased to put down a solid run even though it wasn’t enough to put me in the medals. Group morale was wicked and all the girls rode really well. Shaun White won the slopestyle – wowzer – whether you’re a lover or hater of this guy he deserves some props for winning both pipe and slope at Euro X.
