X Games Second day continued...

Snowboard superpipe finals went OFF this evening!

Snowboard SuperPipe Men Final //

LOUIE VITO Gold, ARTHUR LONGO Silver

Tonight’s SuperPipe final certainly lived up to expectations! The top three riders were left holding their breath til the bitter end, with the final standings only being established with the last rider’s final run. Louie Vito snatched the top spot, only just clinching the extra points with his last run of technical double cork perfection.

French favourite Arthur Longo was left in second place, a position he was more than happy with in front of his home crowd. His first run wowed spectators with an amplitude comparable to Shaun 'the flying tomato' White, shooting him into first place with 92 points! He now joins fellow French man Mathieu Crepel - who also pocketed a silver medal at X Games Tignes in 2010 – on the list of French Snowboarders who have won a medal in the Savoyard resort.

We bumped into Arthur after the event and he was all smiles, super stoked with his result. Tignes Spirit interviewed Arthur at last year's Euro X Games, where he spoke about his fear of competing in front of a home crowd. Something he wont be worrying about in the future!

Iouri Podladtchikov finished in fourth place, but he managed the incredible feat of landing the first ever Cab 1440 double cork in history. Unfortunately, carried away by his achievement he completely overshot his next jump and landed on the side of the superpipe. Iouri may have missed out on the medals tonight but that wasn’t the most important thing for him…
